The POLICE have issued a warning after a number of residents in our area have reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be a Police officer whilst mentioning things like "Scotland Yard" and "Bank Fraud".
They have used the name "DS WIGGINS" and "PC WIGGINS" (but this may obviously change) a nd have attempted to involve the victims in an "undercover operation". They have also mentioned the phone number "161" (amongst others). Can people please be aware and also maybe remind elderly relatives to be on their guard.
Should anyone receive a call such as this PLEASE CALL 101 and report it immediately.
14th March 2018
The police have asked us to inform people there have been a couple of car thefts in our area including a Land Rover and BMW and are asking people to be vigilant and look out for any high-value vehicles parked up in side roads or "out of the way" streets. Very often stolen vehicles will be "parked up" for a couple of days to see if they have trackers installed. If they are still there after that they will then be driven off. ANYTHING that causes suspicion then please call the police on 101.
